Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class is a martial art, combat sport, and a self defense system that focuses on grappling and specifically ground fighting. We incorporate the traditional BJJ belt promotion, giving the student an exact measure of his/her progress.
This 1.5 hour class begins with warm-up which includes calisthenics and BJJ drills. After warm-up you will pair up with a partner and practice the technique of the day. The last portion of the class is spent on sparring, otherwise known as ‘rolling,’ which is submitting your opponent and obtaining dominant positions (e.g mounting, passing someone’s guard, or takedowns). Board shorts and rash guard can be worn for “no-Gi days.” All other days, Gis are required and may be purchased at the Pro Shop. This is an All Levels class – no experience is necessary.
