Joseph Monroe - Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Trainer

Joe Monroe is the Jiu-Jitsu Instructor at Pacific Ring Sports.  He attained his Blackbelt under Bryant Pangelinan, the Head Instructor of Sabre Jiu Jitsu Academy.  Joe’s Jiu Jitsu journey started back in 2007 when, by chance, he agreed to go with a buddy to try out a Jiu Jitsu class. After being submitted more than he could count, Joe decided he would sign up for classes. Joe has competed and won local Jiu Jitsu tournaments. Over the last few years, Joe has directed his focus on training the self-defense and teaching aspects of Jiu Jitsu. Joe was promoted to Blackbelt as a member of Elite Team Eastbay by Head Instructor Tom Knox.

Joe is a veteran of the Armed Forces, serving in the United States Navy. Joe’s goal during a Jiu Jitsu class is to help students build confidence, get in shape, and learn self-defense in a team atmosphere using the principles of Jiu Jitsu.  Joe has been coaching at Pacific Ring since 2021, rebuilding the program after the Covid shut downs.  He impresses students with his patience and positive attitude, regardless of their skill level.
